Here we are…another long day stuck in the house and the kids are fighting again! They have literally dumped every toy bin in the house for “fun.” I’m stressed to the max because these messes drive me bonkers! You can probably relate! What to do? Well, I have implemented a new tradition in this house called “Sensory Saturday (or Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, etc).” On Sensory Saturday we switch out our sensory bins and change the materials. This has become a fun tradition for our kids and a great way for this mama to have a few minutes without bickering! Â
We have a mixed age group here…1, 3, and 6. This dynamic makes sensory play a little tricky (mostly because of the littlest guy) but I have found some things that are sure to be a hit in your home!Â
Baby Sensory Bin
My youngest is still at the point where he puts everything in his mouth! This week for his sensory bin, I found a box of half-eaten Cheerios in the pantry. They may have been a little stale but he didn’t complain! I poured what was left in the box, tossed in a few spoons and a plastic bowl and he was in HEAVEN!! He had a snack AND he got to play! Made his day!!
Toddler Sensory Bin
For my older kids I dumped some rice in a bin along with some rainbow letter beads. Wow…they were busy forever!!! If you don’t have a sensory bin at home, I highly encourage it! It really takes very little prep and you can totally do it with things in your house!
